Decimal currency was adopted by Australian society in 1966. The new banknotes were designed by Gordon Andrews and show clearly the influence of Op-art that had currency at the time.
The designs below have been abstracted from Gordon's designs for the $10 and $20 paper notes. In both cases the alpha-numeric content has been removed and the basic design refashioned and idealised.
